I know there has been a bunch of new modest companies that have popped up, or at least I hadn’t known about them. I will try to get back on track to review these companies and see how they stack up. We are always glad to find modest clothes to add to our repertoire.

Junee has a basic, but well priced collection of clothes. The colors are classic–most are black, white or grey with a few pastels dabbled in there.

They only have three dresses, all black, and no accessories, yet. Hopefully they are coming. It is worth a look, especially if you need a comfortable basic skirt. They have a ton of choices, all around $20 to $60.

The Cut, a blog from New York Magazine posted this:

“New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn loved Ivanka Trump’s custom Vera Wang wedding dress. She just died over the sleeves, which Wang had to add since the groom is Orthodox and Ivanka just converted. “We’re so used to seeing brides in strapless dresses that Ms. Trump’s gown made a fresh statement,” Horyn writes. Wang had about a month to make the dress, which was inspired by Grace Kelly’s wedding dress. Ivanka liked it because of the “lace and the royal factor.” Wang hopes to continue making modest wedding gowns in the future.

“She was actually very much about being covered and I seized on the chance to do a dress that wasn’t naked and very Hollywood.”

… Did she think Ms. Trump might start a trend with her sleeves? “She might very,” Ms. Wang said. “Nothing would make me happier. I’ve been doing strapless dresses for 15 years. It’s tiring.”

She’s right — all those naked brides with their bare shoulders are so cliché. Women should be walking down the aisle with all kinds of sleeves. Pirate sleeves, batwing sleeves, Gareth Pugh armor sleeves, gorilla-arm sleeves … or should they?”

Anna Sui’s design’s have always had a foot in rock and roll. This spring 2010 line is no different, but it also has punches of wild colors, feminine flounces, and daring patterns. Spring is going to be fun!

ELIZA magazine’s fall issue has a travel theme. They released this picture of Glee actress Jayma Mays, with a plane. I get it… travel!

My favorite trip has been to New York. Last time I went I stayed at The Mercer Hotel, saw the lovely Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel in the lobby. Love you guys!

Saw Chicago, In the Heights, and Wicked. Love, love, and love. Brought my mom with to Chicago, a little uncomfortable with all those Fosse pelvic movements, but what are you going to do?

Ate at Corton (239 W. Broadway modern, yet haute),  Artichoke Basille’s Pizza (328 E. 14th St.) and Cafe Boulud (20 E. 76th St. One of Ms. Astor’s favorites), to name a few. Eating is always a high point when there is so many amazing places to choose from.

Went to my two favorite museums in the world: The Frick and The Guggenheim. The Gug gets a lot of play, but sometimes the Frick is looked over. The location is this amazing mansion, I could  be entertained just looking at that, then they throw in amazing art on the walls. Don’t miss the Whistler portraits–so fashionable.

I love the red trend for fall. Red is so classic, yet always a show-stopper. Vogue captures this trend in an ode to fairy tales with a perfect balance of kitche and glamour. Brilliant!

Here is a cover before seventeen magazine started asking it’s readers “how do you know you’re ready to have sex?” Do you mind that teen magazines are talking about condoms, birth control, and high-school pregnancy?

I am not a big fan of her hubby’s movies, but I am a big fan of her red carpet style. She seems so fabulously classy. Well done Leslie.

I come from a christian viewpoint of modesty, but I always love to check out the Style Covered blog. Hana Tajima-Simpson became Muslim about four years ago and created her blog to help other Muslims stay motivated in dressing modestly.

To give you a taste of her style, she featured this fabulous look from the Miu Miu Pre Fall 2009 line–Lovely.

I just got an email from Jen Magazine with this company that is new to me. It seems like it is geared to a more mature woman, but I thought I would throw it up here anyway.

They have a few tops ($27), skirts ($38), scarves ($12), shoes ($23), sunglasses ($10), jewelry ($7-$10) and bags ($27) to chose from. Pretty basic, but at least it isn’t a cap sleeved tee.
